Sandy’s New Life – Pass the Ball – LA Fitness


My name is Jen. I’ve lost 45
pounds, and now I’m passing the ball. My name is Sandy Acre and I was over 180 pounds. I’m glad to say I finally got below that 150 mark, so I’m
at 148 right now, and it’s still working towards my goal. My husband, um, he had cancer, and he didn’t have a lot
of an appetite, and he was blind from his diabetes, so he went blind and cancer in two years. So, I let him
have whatever he wanted. Because I wanted him to be happy and to be comfortable, and so you go eat and
you drink, and you think you’re being married, and it’s just a band-aid to cover up everything that was going on. When he passes away – he passed away on August 1st of
2011. It was a very sad day in our life. And um… It taught me that I don’t want my kids to
be like that. I don’t want to be like that. Especially diabetes, because it runs in our family, and you see
what it does to your body; it destroys it. I was really nervous for her. I didn’t know how long it was going
to take her to recover. So I didn’t know what was coming, and it was really frustrating, so I was really frustrated at times for, like
I said, all the things she forgot and wouldn’t do and… So, anyway, she decided to go back to the gym and thought that
would help her get back on her feet, and it did. So let’s s’get a warm up in. When I came to LA Fitness to become a regular member and
I signed up, I wanted to sign up with a trainer, and they signed me up with Anna. Go all the way wide. All the way. There you go. She was real simple about it. She just said she just wanted to
lose weight and get back in shape the way she used to be. She inspires me, because I would not be able to do this without her. I like to mix it up with some cables, some free weights, also
some of the other machines. Just so we get every muscle. If we can keep the heart rate up in a fat-burning zone
for 30 minutes, I mean, we’re burning a lot of calories. So we’re keeping her moving while the muscles that
we just worked are getting some rest. Is the parsley right there sweety? Yes it is. Initially she changed her diet when she started working out. I’mma put one more in. My diet is so much better and, um, I was just choosing
healthy, like, salads, and like grilled meats and nothing fried, Um…just baked/broiled fish, lots of fish. Chicken breasts.
So just simple, easy, clean food. I feel so much better. I miss my husband but I- He’s given me all this opportunity to do something good
for myself, and so I can’t waste that. I’m so proud of her. And it’s- I just- That’s one thing I
love about this job is that you get to see progression of people. You know, I want her to be happy, and I want her
to feel good about herself again, and she’s there now. You know, I can tell with the way
she dresses and how she’s happy again. I just see things differently. And it’s- it’s like, nothing- There’s
nothing that you cannot accomplish, and it’s a good feeling. My name is Sandy. I’ve lost 32 pounds.
And now I’m passing the ball.
