How To: Abdominal Crunch (Hammer Strength)


What’s going on YouTube? I’m Scott from Scotthermanfitness.com And I want to show you guys how to use the hammer strength abdominal crunch machine now I always see a lot of people use this machine. It’s a great machine, but they don’t use it correctly Okay, what you need to do And this is more of a rule of thumb for the majority of people who use this machine if you take your fist You slide this up Bring it up just high enough, so your fist fits in it’s a pretty good height to use then you adjust the weight To a weight that you can do not hurt yourself And now what you want to do Sit down underhook your feet Make sure you point your toes up Lean back and when you lean back your shoulders should be in line with the Pad, okay right here Keep your head back Hold on to the handles arch your back a bit and now when you come down you focus on something straight across Because you don’t want your neck to go down And you don’t want to go back and you’re going to breathe out As you come forward always breathe out when your insert a force so toes up everything’s tight gone Come back, so the weights almost touch down again Come back all the way And then come down now a lot of people do this machine like this Doesn’t do anything you’re not activating your abs all you’re doing is looking like you’re having a seizure on the ab machine. So you want to do is make sure that You keep the back straight Come all the way down and then All the way down all the way back And that’s how you use the abdominal crunch machine.     Where did you get the shorts, I like the blue and red ones with white stripes on side. I know they are Adidas but no luck to find online. BTW, I enjoy your videos! 😉

    LOL!! "looking like you're having a seizure on the ab machine" I gave you 5 stars for that alone! (And I could tell by your face you thought you were pretty damn funny)
    Your videos are addicting… Short, sweet & to the point. I think I'm on like the 40th one, seriously.

    thanks mate. Just used this machine today at the YMCA. Had trouble with it. My back kept moving from the pads and the handles jammed into my shoulder. I mean I felt the burn, BIG time. But my back in pain. After watching this video I know understand what to do. Thanks mate. Great exercise too. Works out your entire ab area.

    Started doing the leg lifts again…thats almost a guarantee for sore abs the next day aka MUSCLE GROWTH

    Watch ghetto workouts…there is never an excuse why you can't exercise. Or just do plain old calisthenics workouts. That helps alot

    @BIGBROTHERXXII im not sure how advanced you are in bodybuilding but im a beginner myself. I think what the (HAMMER STRENGTH) means on the title is the name of the "producer" of the machine? because at my local gym, i see hammer strength is engraved on most of the machines there. and he is strong, i've seen quite a few of his videos. (135lbs bicep curl, 110lbs skull crusher, etc)

    I have a lot of belly fat, will this machine work best (of course probably after a year) or is there another machine that is better to reduce the belly?

    Thanks a ton for the vid. Like You tube for this type of stuff…My best friend used to be bullied. He stated he was intending to grow muscles. I didn't believe him. But then within a few weeks he packed on 40 pounds of genuine muscle mass. He tried the Muscle Building Bible (Google it). Not a soul dares to bully him now. 🙂 I subscribed earlier this week. See what will happen. Plus this guys emails are excellent!

    My relative used to be bullied. He said he was planning to get bigger. I did not believe him. But then he gained 40lbs of natural muscle. He made use of the Muscle Building Bible – look in Google. He does not get bullied anymore. 🙂 I subscribed earlier this week. Not to mention the guys emails are awesome!

    Hi, have you come across "BellyFATtack"? Just google it. On there you can get an important free video presentation by a respected qualified health practitioner talking about the right way to lose extra fat. This made it easier for Toni to lose his tummy fat. It may help you as well.

    Yes I agree cant even believe it. you can make your workout sessions much more productive if your eating the right foods to avoid fat and belly.     I already told you. i know the bad fat is the reason that stopping 6 pack coming outside even we work out well.

    @Pals4Fashion ok since I am trying to get a flatter stomach and you was saying that it only works for Tha top meaning what ? I mean I thought it works for Tha stomach period I mean my focus is getting a flatter stomach so me doing that machine would it be a waist ?

    I use this at the beginning I was shy while losing weight now am able to do 60 lbs while using this 🙂 oh also it's hard the very first times but then the body start strengthen!

    Every time I use this machine I feel the burn in my hip flexors before I feel it in my abs. Also my back and neck hurt from this machine. Any suggestions?

    I use that machine a lot in the gym but don't feel any burn. My question is shall I use only my abs muscle or can I use my arms as well? If only my abs, How?

    Okay … I'm confused now. In the beginning of the video you say to arch our back, then at the end you say to keep our back straight. Which one is it???!!!

    Does this machine add your weight, or a percentage of your weight to the weight you select?When I do the regular an machine, I can do about 150 when I’m pushing it. On this machine, I can barely get it to go at 40.
    I’ve not been working out long, so I’m still learning a lot of this.

    i only went half way back and my abs got so much stronger and bigger then ever before . I went from 35kg x20 to max weight (75KG) x10 in about 2 months

    I always struggel to find the fitting height for on this machine, so my form, especially back form sucks. Therefore I get backache often, Gonna try the fist rule. I love the machine. It is really hard to do when you begin, but is so satisfying.
