2018 is coming to an end and many of you are preparing for the new year and you’re coming up with some of those resolutions to help you create a healthier happier life popular new year goal is to lose weight the question is what’s the best way to do it research shows the key is to focus 70% on what you eat and 30% on exercise many people only do one or the other leaving their weight-loss goals unfulfilled there’s a new local business that combines healthy meal prep with fitness training so joining me this morning is the co-owner of body lab food plus fitness Stephen Hubbard along with the body lab chef Victor Perez and trainer Amanda wheeler thank you all for coming on the food looks amazing and although we did say it was you know a little bit more on the diet than exercise you have to have both why is it important to do both yeah so a lot of the research that we’ve analyzed was performed by the American College of Sports Medicine and it spans over a period of about a decade and what it shows is that those who probably combined a dietary program with an exercise regimen not only generally lost about 19 pounds or more in a period but they also kept that weight off for about a year or longer versus those who did one or the other only so a lot of places do you know fitness or food you can get that pretty much anywhere within the United States so this is like a groundbreaking kind of company that’s really kind of reintroducing the way to do that balance we do your food and your fitness for you all under one roof a lot of places they focus on putting you in a room full of like 10 or 20 or 30 people even putting a heart rate monitor on you and say do as much as you can within an hour right or they deliver a fad diet straight to your door our program focuses on an equal equation of balancing both for you so our motto is really delivering you more time more results so you can spend greater time with your family your friends be more productive at work and it really kind of provides you balance and it’s already here talk about the food that we’re seeing here I mean this takes out a lot of the work it’s difficult to prepare healthy food sometimes but this is kinda just knocking about for you yeah it is a great food our program is designed by our dietitians and researchers it’s really made to eliminate all the problem at ik foods that can cause things such as high blood pressure chronic fatigue your sugar cravings that are always bad for people I know that’s tough I mean I’ve admit it people know on this show I talk about exactly all of our food is just very locally sourced never frozen it makes you feel like you’re eating at a five-star restaurant every day well the really great thing is it’s not like your run-of-the-mill food preparations places where you get chicken rice and broccoli for seven days it backs up you don’t want to eat it on that last day I see we offer great amount of food and it’s just a great program probably easier to follow through on cuz I really personally I can eat leftovers the next day but I can’t do chicken seven days a week exactly so Amanda you’re part you’re the trainer yes so talk about how important it is to actually work with the people and kind of help them reach their goals oh absolutely so I’m at body lab we really believe in training programs that are efficient effective and a lot of fun so each and every one of our workouts is designed by one of our certified personal trainers and they’re really unique to each individual client based on their fitness level and all of their goals a body lab we do time to workout so 20 minutes we’ll start at the beginning of your workout and you’ll do low-impact interval training and this is going to be on our state-of-the-art treadclimber so that really incorporates the benefits of a stair climber and elliptical and a treadmill all in one and not only that it burns two and a half times as many calories as just your typical treadmill Wow and we’re never going to ask our clients to run which is always a benefit well on some people they’re exactly exactly what we really do low-impact so after that we transition into 20 minutes of resistance training on our medical grade equipment and at that point we’re really focusing on building that nice lean muscle mass that’s going to help our clients burn calories all throughout the day so we do three of these workouts throughout the week and really we found that that’s a great balance of the cardiovascular and the resistance training that’s going to allow our clients to get the best results and save them a lot of time so really this is a program that anybody can do any body type can come in and say hey I want to do this exactly if you can walk you can do it wonderful what promotion do you guys have coming up because this is a new business and I think you guys have something special going on definitely yeah so we are in San Marco right on 1510 Hendricks Avenue next to Panera Bread what we’re doing yeah right who don’t go there though right no like five days so you still have two days to do what you want to do in your life you can still go to Panera exactly right we’re not trying to take it away balance right and that’s why so many people fail on these things exactly they’ve hit a wall you’re right or they then they get frustrated stop so right now our promotion is
