Thanks for the continued stream of brilliant videos, Shane. I've been coaching adult beginners' in Oxford, England for over 25yrs. I have doubts over many sources of rowing support and am reluctant to recommend them. However, your positive approach, clear descriptions and simple explanations provide an excellent resource for all rowers in development. (And that's everybody, really!)

Literally bought a rowing machine this morning. Did 250 strokes tonight. Lying in bed feeling super weird. Must be an endorphin rush. Keen to keep it up though!

I record my sessions on an iPad, then upload the video to Hudl Technique to watch in slow motion. Spend lots of time on the rower at a low stroke rate and doing the drill shown in this video.

Do you control/record your heart rate during the trainings? If yes, would you please make a video about it explaining if it is useful and what do the numbers mean etc.? Thanks

I bought a rower a couple weeks ago , been on it 5 times so far . A few times my ankle felt funny the next day . I’m thinking my feet aren’t adjusted right . I bought a Nordic track so maybe it’s crap equipment or is there a specific way to I should be measuring where my feet go in ??

Hi Shane. Your videos are phenomenal. Thank you for breaking down the rowing stroke and simplifying the movement along with stroke rate and split. I am a beginner and this has been very helpful.

I just bought a concept 2 machine today! I’m 23yo female 5’1 and I’m in it for weight loss and to form a lifelong hobby. I’m excited to start

heah! i'll have to try that, because i still feel like my back is in play during the drive. and, i guess this comes over time, but i can't keep a consistent SPM unless i'm watching one of these videos. i'll shoot for 18 for a while, and i'll be as high as 22, and as low as 17.
